This computer visualization activity is designed to help upper division undergraduate students visualize spherical harmonics.

Students use Maple or Mathematica to calculate the probability density of spherical harmonics, visualize linear combinations of spherical harmonics, and animate the time evolution of the probability density.

The entire class wrap-up discussion addresses how to represent the probability densities computed from spherical harmonics in a variety of ways.
