Finding Conjugate Pairs

Highlights of the activity

1. Students are asked to use their thermodynamic variable note cards and find the conjugate pairs.

Reasons to spend class time on the activity

Utilizing note cards offers a more kinesthetic approach to remembering which thermodynamic variables are conjugate pairs. By writing what the dimensions of each thermodynamic variable are somewhere on the note card, students will have a quick reference to finding the conjugate pairs when the variables multiplied together have dimensions of energy.
