The Energy Method

1) Determine the number of forms of energy. The number of forms of energy will be equal to the number of types of energy multiplied by the number of objects involved in the problem.

2) Write down the Law of Conservation of Energy. The number of terms on each side of the equal sign there will be equal to the number of forms of energy determined in step one.

3) Solve for the unknown variable(s).
