In the Teaching Seminar this spring we will be studying curricular materials and strategies that are relevant for teaching lower-division, calculus-based intro physics. In particular, we will be investigating curricular materials for the lab portion of the class. We will look at exemplary materials developed at OSU and at other institutions, read about what physics education research has to say about labs, discuss how different types of labs support different curricular goals, and explore effective ways to facilitate lab experiences.
Anyone interested in physics teaching is welcome to attend
this seminar, regularly or irregularly, with or without signing up for credit.
Students who would like to register for credit
should sign up for PH 607, Sec 002, CRN 32531 (for 1 credit) and PH 607,
Sec 003, CRN
33701 (for a second credit). Students who sign up for two credits will be
expected to
give a presentation.
The seminar will meet from 2-3 pm on Thursdays.
