Instructions for final paper

You are expected to write a three page paper on a topic that has been covered in PH212 this term. The paper should be at least half text, but should also include pictures, graphs, formulas, or numbers as needed. In other words, it should not be text only, but what else you add does not have to include all possibilities listed before. You should write the paper so that other students in PH212 can understand it, in other words, you are allowed to use the shared knowledge that the course has given you. You should chose a topic that connects the physics dicussed in the course with something in your personal or professional life. It is not important that you made the connection this term, it can be something you were always interested in, and you already had made the connection before taking the course. But the topic should be covered in the current PH212 material. The paper should include a description of the physics involved, a story why the topic is of interest to you, and what you have learned from connecting your interest with the physics. This does leave you a lot of freedom, and students have taken this in many different directions. The paper is due Thursday December 12, 2013, at 5pm. Please put it in the envelope outside my door of Weniger 403.
