Ph 213 - Extra homework (not mandatory, not to be turned in)
- Problem #s from Homeworks 1-4, 7 and 8:
Hmwk. 1, Ch. 26: 16, 17, 19; Hmwk 2, Ch. 26: 38, 52, 61, 75;
Hmwk. 3, Ch. 27: 42, 46, 53, and Ch. 28: 6, 8, 19, 40, 55;
Hmwk. 4, Ch. 29: 40, 45, 47, 52, 59, 61, 65;
Hmwk. 7, Ch. 33: 22, 24, 32, 53, 54, 67, 69, 73, 76;
Hmwk. 8, Ch. 34: 27, 34, 38, 50, 52, 84.
Late Hmwk. 7 & 8 will be
accepted in a "hardcopy form" until Thurday, a "mailbox" has been
installed near the door of Room 424, 15 feet from the door to the
right.
- No more "extra homework", Portion Twelve is the last one!
- Portion Twelve: Regular Homework # 8.
- Portion Eleven: some Biot-Savart, and
forces acting on wires with current, and electromagnetic
induction.
- Portion Ten: Regular HMWKs 1-4; Midterm One, Midterm Two.
- Portion Nine, Biot-Savart, forces acting
on a wire. 13 pages, with solutions. My suggestion: start from
both ends, do, for example, Page 1 - Page 13 - Page 2 - Page 12
-...., and so on. In this way, even if you don't manage to do all pages,
you'll perhaps do the "more important" ones...
- Portion Eight: from Knight's book, Chapter 33: Problems 20, 21,
25, 28, 31, 33-36, 38-40, 42, 45-49, 52, 55, 63, 65, 71, 77-80,
82(a).
- Portion Seven, magneic field B,
charged particles in B (posted March 8,2012).
- Portion Six. It's essentially the solution of
the last problem in Portion 5, a resistor cube, with two more tasks
added (R equiv. between to vertices at the ends of a face diagonal, and
of an edge). Read the note in red in Page 6, then review Pages 1 - 5,
where solutions are given, and try to solve the last task, a
"tetrahedron" consisting of 6 resistors.
- Portion Five (some comments will be added, check
your e-mail on Saturday);
- Portion Four: the same as Homework 6
(not a joke). You don't need to submit Hmwk 6 before the March 5
dealine, but working on the problems before Midterm 2 may be a good
idea.
- Portion Three;
- Portion Two: Open this
Web document, and try solve all problems with capacitor
combinations, without looking first at the solutions.
- Portion One;
